Last month, Kevin Bonavia MP launched a primary school christmas card competition, encouraging schools and classes to send in designs to become his official MP’s Christmas card.

The MP, elected this year in July, has focused heavily on outreach to local schools. He has offered every school a personal visit which includes a Q&A where students can ask any questions they wish, started a school trips to Parliament scheme where all schools have been invited for a tour and workshops in Westminster and recently piloted a work experience week with the Youth Mayor of Stevenage.

Across the last month, the MP’s office received over 750 entries, with the winners being announced this week in an email to all local schools in Stevenage, Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston.

The winners are below:

1st place and becoming my official MP’s Christmas card - Luca (year 6) at St Margaret Clitherow

2nd and 3rd place runners-up - Daisy (year 2) and Jessica (year 4), both at Peartree Spring

Said Kevin Bonavia MP:

“All of these entries showed how much young artistic talent we have across Stevenage and the villages. I will be displaying many of the designs on my office walls to celebrate this year's competition. I will also be writing a hand-signed letter to every single child who entered a design to thank them for their

contribution.

I want to congratulate the winners, who will all be receiving a prize from me, and look forward to getting Luca’s design printed onto official christmas cards to be sent out across December.”

The MP hopes to do a similar competition again next year with more advanced notice, a theme and bigger prizes.
