My pledges to you

It’s hard to believe it’s already been two years since our communities elected me to serve as the MP for Stevenage, Knebworth, Codicote, Datchworth and Aston. It is the greatest privilege of my life to represent the community I am proud to call home.

Before the election, I made five personal promises about the kind of MP I would be. Since being elected, they still shape how I do the job every single day.

1.

Always live locally

I promised to always live locally, so I can continue to live, sleep and breathe day to day life here.

I live in the Old Town, just off the high street. I'm proud to call Stevenage my home and I will not be going anywhere!

I haven't claimed a penny for accommodation in London. Despite working some late nights, I don't think I should have anything my constituents don't get access to - so I travel back however I can.

2.

Be a full-time MP

I made a ‘no second jobs guarantee’, so you know that all of my time will be spent being a full-time, hardworking MP for our town and villages.

Unfortunately, our previous MP didn't focus full-time on the job. That meant that lots of residents were let down.

To do it properly, you've got to be full-time and overtime, so I'm not going to be focusing on anything but serving my constituents, both in the local area and in Parliament.

3.

Put community first

I promised to always put the needs of the local community first.

I've started a programme to visit to every small and large business, shop and school in my first term.

So far, I’ve visited over half of the schools in our area, speaking about Parliament and the difference young people can make. I’ve got more visits planned, and you can get in touch with my office about school visits to Parliament.

I've attended hundreds of local events and collaborated with schools, charities, small businesses and other residents on multiple local initiatives.

I've also consulted residents on important issues, to ensure I'm representing you.

4.

Parliament for people

I made a promise to use my time in parliament to give Stevenage and our villages a voice.

I've spoken up for our area in Parliament nearly a hundred times, cast several hundred votes on important measures to deliver change, and lobbied ministers to support our town and villages - many of whom have since made visits to our constituency to see the progress we're making.

I set up a ‘school trips to parliament scheme’ in my first year as our MP and offer regular tours to local residents.

As well as regular work experience for young people in our area, in 2026 I held my first Parliament Summer School, welcoming over twenty college-aged students to experience the inner workings of Westminster. I found it so inspiring to meet young people with such enthusiasm for shaping the future, and I hope they found it valuable as well.

5.

Complete casework

I promised to open a local constituency office and hire a team to help me solve local issues.

Helping local people solve problems is one of the most important and meaningful parts of my job as our MP.

My office inherited a serious casework backlog from the last MP, and I continue to receive thousands of emails each month. My small, hardworking team works full-time to make sure people's voices are heard, their issues are dealt with and their questions are answered.

We support people with all sorts of issues, including pensions, housing, NHS care, benefits, crime victim support, employment, and problems with public services.

My team and I are here to help all year round - I've held more than 60 advice surgeries, and have handled over 10,000 cases so far supporting residents with their local problems .
