Working together for better parking at Lister Hospital
If you’ve ever driven to Lister Hospital, you’ll know the frustration of trying to find a parking space. So, I’m asking local residents to sign my petition to push for better parking at the Lister.
I’m delighted that we’ve secured £27 million of investment for Lister Hospital, including a new state-of-the-art children’s centre, ward upgrades and new diagnostic scanners. This will make a real difference to patients and staff across our community.
But alongside improving the hospital itself, we also need to make sure people can get there easily, so I’m working with local partners to push for better parking options at the hospital.
Patients often end up worrying about whether they’ll make their appointment on time, while staff face the same problems each day. When you’re already dealing with an illness or supporting someone who is, the last thing you need is the added stress of finding somewhere to park.
There is limited space to expand parking on the site itself, so we need to think creatively about what can be done nearby and how different organisations can work together to find a practical solution.
Working with Stevenage Borough Council and the hospital, I’m calling on Hertfordshire County Council and our other local councils to work with us to explore every possible option.
My petition is part of that effort. By showing the strength of feeling locally, we can help make sure improving access to the Lister remains a priority and build the case for action.
